Deebo Samuel is arguably one of the best football players in the NFL. We can say he’s one of the best wide receivers in the league, but he does so much more. Samuel is coming off a breakthrough season during which he helped San Francisco reach the NFC Championship Game. He finished fifth in the league with 1,405 receiving yards, caught six touchdown passes and rushed for eight touchdowns. The former second-round pick in 2019 is entering the final year of his rookie contract. Samuel is in line for an extension, and it doesn’t seem the Niners are willing to pay whatever he’s asking for. Deebo Samuel has officially asked for a trade from the 49ers. Christian Kirk, Davante Adams, Stephon Diggs, and Tyreek Hill all have signed big money extensions. If traded, where would Samuel land? Check out 8 potential destinations for Deebo Samuel.
Howie Roseman knows how to wheel and deal. The Eagles have a lot of draft capital over the next couple of years to get the deal done. Philadelphia is also a place where they need someone to pair with DeVonta Smith. Samuel would open up the offense seeing he can run, and block is an added bonus.
New York Jets
The Jets have been trying to make a splash for a long time. Robert Saleh came from the 49ers, so he probably has a relationship with Samuel. The Jets are looking for a big threat on offense to compliment Zach Wilson. New York has a ton of cap space, and they can afford a huge contract that Samuel is commanding. Would Samuel welcome a move to the Jets?
Green Bay Packers
Aaron Rodgers is returning to Green Bay after signing a huge contract extension. Unfortunately, the Packers traded away Davante Adams to Las Vegas during the offseason. Samuel would fit perfectly in Matt LaFleur’s offense and would be a welcomed addition for Rodgers. Would the 49ers trade him to a team in the NFC and one they would see in the playoffs?
New England Patriots
New England has been searching for a true #1 WR for a very long time. The addition of Samuel would help the growth of Mac Jones tremendously. The thought of having Samuel a part of the dynamic offense of the Patriots would be great. Deebo brings a certain type of versatility that Belichick would love.
The Lions are a team on the rise, and many will probably laugh at that notion. Detroit has a great core of young receivers but adding Samuel will open things up. The Lions have a lot of draft capital and money to pay Samuel also. With the Lions in a rebuild stage, is it smart to pay one player more than $20 million a year?
With all the departures, the Falcons probably have one of the worse receiving corps in the league. Kyle Pitts will command a lot of attention if they don’t add some pieces. Deebo Samuel will help take pressure off Pitts and add another dynamic player to the offense. The Falcons already have Cordarrelle Patterson and Samuel could make the offense scarier. Unfortunately, the Falcons have a lot of dead money after trading Matt Ryan.
Indianapolis has done everything possible to win in the last couple of years. The Philip Rivers experience ended with a great year, but he retired the following season. The Colts traded for Carson Wentz, but after one season they moved him to Washington. Indianapolis has now traded for Matt Ryan, and they will want to surround him with as much talent as possible. Michael Pittman Jr. is turning out to be a great WR and pairing him with Samuel would be a dream come true. With the addition of Samuel, the Colts would have an amazing offense. Jonathon Taylor is arguably the best running back in the league and having Samuel blocking could make him more dangerous. With the AFC stacked, would Deebo want to head to the AFC?
Baltimore has been looking for a top tier receiver for Lamar Jackson for years. Having Deebo Samuel on the other side of Hollywood Brown, this could make the Ravens contenders again. With the impending contract extension for Jackson, would it be possible for the Ravens to afford Samuel? If the Ravens could find a way to make it happen, this would make their division wide open. Would the Ravens make a deal to acquire Deebo Samuel? We will have to see because he’s a game changer.
Where do you see Deebo Samuel landing? Will the 49ers move their most dynamic offensive weapon? If so, with the NFL Draft this coming week will a deal take place before then? What do you think about the 8 possible destinations for Deebo Samuel?
