Big Ed The Assassin Released 25 Years Ago Today

In 1998, No Limit Records was on top of the world as the #1 rap label. They were dropping albums left and right. Four weeks prior, Snoop Dogg dropped his third album and debut joint with No Limit. Big Ed aka The Assassin released his debut album 25 years ago today. The Assassin was the name of it, and I’ll be honest, many people weren’t excited about this album. Big Ed had been with No Limit for a long time, and he finally got his chance to shine. The Assassin turned out to be a very solid album. Before his debut, Big Ed appeared on classic No Limit albums like Ghetto D, Unladylike, TRU and many others. Despite having no singles, The Assassin peaked at the top 20 albums in the country. Unfortunately, Big Ed passed away back in 2001 due to cancer.

The Assassin by Big Ed is one of the 27 albums from No Limit Records you should have in your collection. As mentioned, the album was much better than expected and it’s unfortunate this was his only No Limit album. Below are the top 5 tracks from the album, track listing and stream link.
