Do or Die Twista Po Pimp for Throwback Thursday

As we continue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop, let’s look back on some classics we’ve had. Ghetto Mafia and their classic hit, Facts of Life from their debut album Draw the Line was highlighted. This week we are going back to the year 1996. The year 1996 was another amazing year of hip hop. All Eyez on Me, Reasonable Doubt, It Was Written, The Score, and ATLiens are some of the classics released. There are so many albums that could be highlighted from 1996. The group that’s being highlighted is none other than Do or Die. Do or Die came straight out of Chicago and they were signed to Rap-A-Lot Records. With all the classic albums and songs released in 1996, they had one of the hottest tracks of the summer. Po Pimp was the name and it featured Twista and Johnny P.
Po Pimp went gold as a single and it served as the lead single for their Picture This album. Picture This not only went gold, but it resurrected the career of Twista. Twista had dropped a couple of albums before being featured on Po Pimp. With Po Pimp being such a smash, there was a big buzz for Twista’s upcoming album. Picture This from Do or Die dropped in September of 1996 and Twista released his Adrenaline Rush joint the following year. Po Pimp was one of my favorite joints of that year and it’s just a smooth track. Check out the video for my featured Throwback Thursday up above. Below you can peep at the track listing and stream link for the Picture This album.
