Keith Sweat Make It Last Forever Dropped 35 Years Ago Today

Atlanta has been a staple for great music for as long as I can remember. Raheem the Dream, Kilo Ali, Freak Nasty, and a few others began my journey. Outkast, Ghetto Mafia and a lot of underground artists represented for the 90s. Ludacris, T.I., Jeezy and Gucci Mane took the torch and continued the Atlanta grind. Migos, Lil Baby, 21 Savage and a slew of others have taken the hip hop world by storm representing Atlanta. On that subject, rest in peace to Takeoff from the Migos. As you can see, Atlanta has held its own for a long time, but they’ve produced great R&B also. My first taste came back in 1987 when Keith Sweat released his debut album. Make It Last Forever was the name, and it remains one of my all-time favorites. 35 years ago today, Make It Last Forever was released.

Make It Last Forever held the top spot on the Billboard charts and went triple platinum. The album had only 8 songs on the album and four of them were singles. I Want Her became the #1 song in the country. It dropped about two months before the album was released. Something Just Ain’t Right was the second single dropped and it came out at the start of 1988. The title track, Make It Last Forever came out in the spring of 1988. Make It Last Forever is one of my all-time favorite songs. Later in 1988, Keith Sweat released his fourth and final single. Don’t Stop Your Love was the single and it was another great track. Right and A Wrong Way, Make It Last Forever, How Deep Is Your Love, Tell Me It’s Me You Want, and Something Just Ain’t Right are top 5 tracks.
