Kilo Ali Baby Baby for Throwback Thursday

As we continue to celebrate the 50th anniversary of hip hop I’ll continue to highlight some forgotten classics and artists. Last week, Young MC and his classic Bust a Move was the featured track. For the last few weeks, we have given love to New York artists. This time around I’ll come to my part of the country and it’s Atlanta. Atlanta has been killing the music scene for a very long time. Lil Baby, 21 Savage, Future and Young Thug have ushered in a new sound. Before that, we had the likes of Jeezy, T.I., Ludacris, Killer Mike, and Gucci Mane. Before that, Outkast dominated the charts ever since they dropped their Southernplayalisticadillacmuzik joint in 1994. Before Outkast hit the scene, Atlanta was known for bass and party music. Kilo Ali was one of the artists representing Atlanta before we ever heard of Outkast.
Kilo Ali released his America Has a Problem album back in 1991. He was only 18 years old and then he only went by Kilo. Cocaine was his huge hit in the city when he first came out. Kilo would drop six albums in a five-year span. In 1995, his Get This Party Started album was his most successful one. Two years later, he returned to the scene with his Organized Bass album under the name Kilo Ali. Organized Bass featured Big Boi from Outkast, George Clinton, Kool Ace, and J.T from Poison Clan. Organized Bass was a good album with a few bangers on it. One of my favorite songs from Kilo Ali is my featured Throwback Thursday track and its Baby Baby. Baby Baby is a smooth ass track, and it was a club favorite. Check the track above and below peep the track listing and stream link.
