Magna Carta Holy Grail by Jay-Z Released 10 Years Ago

Jay-Z is viewed as one of the greatest MCs to ever touch the mic. Billboard magazine listed him as the greatest rapper of all-time. Two years after Jay & Kanye dropped their Watch the Throne joint, he dropped a new album. Magna Carta Holy Grail was the 12^th studio album by Jay. The album was free for Samsung customers via the Jay-Z Magna Carta app. The album earned Jay more platinum plaques as it went triple platinum. Magna Carta Holy Grail was nominated for album of the year on three different award shows. The album features guest appearances by Justin Timberlake, Nas, Rick Ross, Frank Ocean, and Beyoncé. Despite its strong sells, this is viewed as one of the weaker albums by Jay-Z. Holy Grail was the first single from the album and it featured Justin Timberlake.

Holy Grail won numerous awards and the single went 4X platinum. This was one of the highlights of the album and it was also the first song of the album. Tom Ford was the second single released and this is a track that wasn’t for me. Despite that, it was nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap Performance. The third and final single from the album was Part II (On the Run) featuring Beyonce. This is viewed as the sequel to ’03 Bonnie and Clyde from Jay’s Blueprint II album. This song was also nominated for a Grammy for Best Rap/Sung Collaboration. Magna Carta isn’t one of my favorite Jay albums, but it was still a good project. Below are my top 5 tracks from the album.
