The first game on Sunday will see Boston taking on the Milwaukee Bucks in the Eastern Conference semifinals. The second game will have the Memphis Grizzlies battling the Golden State Warriors. The Grizzlies finished off the Timberwolves in 6 games. Prior to that, Golden State eliminated the Denver Nuggets in five games. Memphis had a scare in the first round because Minnesota should have upset them. Minnesota held huge leads over the Grizzlies, but the Timberwolves folded in the end. Memphis is one of the deeper teams in the league and they have many contributors to their success. With the Warriors, Steph Curry continues to get healthier, and Klay Thompson is looking like himself. Golden State used their 3-headed monster of guards in Jordan Poole, Steph Curry, and Klay Thompson. As Memphis battles Golden State, who will advance to the 2022 Western Conference Finals?
These two teams battled for the 2nd spot for almost the last month of the season. Curry got hurt and the Grizzlies continued to soar to earn the 2nd seed. Ja Morant missed over 20 games during the season and Memphis won 90% of those games. While Morant is the star of the team, the Grizzlies have several players that step up. Desmond Bane, Dillion Brooks, Tyus Jones, and Brandon Clarke are all capable of leading this squad. With Golden State, many have called future Hall-of-Famers Steph Curry and Klay Thompson the greatest shooting backcourt ever. Jordan Poole stepped in during the absence of Klay Thompson and showed he’s one of the better ones also. Either of those guys can light you up for 30 points in a game. Draymond Green continues to anchor the defense as this team is trying to reach another Western Conference Finals.
Dillion Brooks will have his hands full as he will probably be checking Steph, Jordan, and Klay at one point. Desmond Bane will also be checking the trio of guards also. Ja Morant will have to be more consistent in this round as opposed to the Minnesota series. Will Memphis having the homecourt advantage for this series be a factor? Will the Grizzlies have enough defenders to send at Curry, Poole, and Thompson? Can the Warriors defend against the like of Bane, Brooks, and Morant? This should be an amazing series between these two teams. Memphis has been my sleeper team all season, but my money is on this Warriors team. Golden State Win Series 4-2
