Mobb Deep Survival of the Fittest for Throwback Thursday

Let’s take it back to 1995 and there were quite a few great albums that came out. Me Against the World, Soul Food and Raekwon’s Purple Tape all dropped in 1995. There are many more that came out in 1995. One of the more underrated projects was the Infamous album by Mobb Deep. Mobb Deep began their careers back in 1993 with an album called Juvenile Hell. Two years later, they released their classic joint The Infamous. Mobb Deep had features from Nas, Raekwon, Ghostface Killah and Q-Tip on this album. The Infamous eventually went platinum and has been named one of the greatest hip hop albums ever. They released four singles from the album and one of them is my featured Throwback Thursday track. Survival of the Fittest is the name of the track and it was one of the hardest records to drop in 1995.

Survival of the Fittest is a classic New York track especially during that era. Survival of the Fittest” was featured in the soundtrack for the 2002 film 8 Mile. It was also featured in the 2006 video game Marc Ecko’s Getting Up: Contents Under Pressure. Havoc shows why he’s one of the more underrated producers with this gem. Prodigy shows why he held his own in beefs with 2Pac, Naas and Jay-Z. If you follow hip hop, you know that Prodigy passed away in June of 2017. Check out the track Survival of the Fittest up above.
