Notorious Big Life After Death Released 25 Years Ago Today

The Notorious Big is widely considered one of the greatest rappers of all-time. Ready to Die, which was his debut album has been looked at as one of the best rap albums ever. Ready to Die was released in 1994 and he continued to promote the album throughout most of 1995. The album went 6x platinum and then he turned his attention to the Junior Mafia album. Junior Mafia was his group, and they released their debut album, Conspiracy in the summer of 1995. The Conspiracy album went gold, and it made way for Lil Kim to drop her solo debut. Lil Kim dropped her Hard Core album in the fall of 1996, and it would eventually go double platinum. Unfortunately, on March 9th of 1997 the Notorious Big was killed in Los Angeles. Biggie was in the process of releasing his Life After Death album.

Life After Death was released 25 years ago today and a little over two weeks after his passing. Life After Death debuted #1 off the strength of his first single Hypnotize. Hypnotize was released a week before the death of the Notorious Big and it went platinum. Mo Money Mo Problems was the second single released as it dropped in the summer of 1997. The platinum featured Diddy and Mase, plus they shot a video for the track. The final single from Life After Death was Sky’s the Limit, which featured his son dressed as him.
