T.I. Paper Trail Turns 15 Years Old Today

T.I. is viewed as one of the greatest to ever touch a mic. The self-proclaimed King of the South have amassed an impressive discography. His career started when he dropped his debut album, I’m Serious back in 2001. After being released from his label, T.I. emerged by doing a joint venture with Atlantic and his Grand Hustle imprint. In 2003, Trap Muzik was released, and it was well-received with many of us calling it a classic. The following year, T.I. hit us with his third album called Urban Legend. Urban Legend was also considered a classic and became his second consecutive platinum album. About a year and a half later, T.I. returned with his fourth album called King. King became the fourth consecutive album to go platinum. King was another great project put out by T.I. as it was also well-received by fans.
T.I. wasn’t only putting in the work during this run, but he was dropping great music. During this time, T.I. was also putting out a lot of mixtapes also. T.I. vs. T.I.P. was his 5th album, which was released the following year after King. T.I. vs. T.I.P. became his fourth consecutive platinum selling album. The following year T.I. dropped yet another album which was his sixth one. The name of the album was Paper Trail, and it was released 15 years ago today. Paper Trail became T.I.’s most successful album after selling over two million copies. The production was top-notched, and he had some major features. Jay-Z, Kanye West, Lil Wayne, and Ludacris, along with singers Rihanna, Justin Timberlake, Usher and John Legend, among others. He also released an unprecedented seven singles off Paper Trail. Paper Trail is one of my top 5 albums from T.I. and it’s a great album.
No Matter What was the first single off the new album. The single dropped about five months before the album dropped and it appeared on several mixtapes. No Matter What was nominated for Best Male Video at the MTV Movie Awards. Whatever You Like was his second single and it was his most popular one. Whatever You Like went triple platinum and reached the top of the charts. T.I. would release six more singles over the next 5 months. Paper Trail was a great album in my opinion and one that all his fans should have. Below are the top 5 tracks from Paper Trail, plus the track listing and stream link.
