T.I. Trap Muzik Turns 20 Years Old Today

T.I. has called himself the King of the South for many years now. He has gone on to become one of the greatest rappers, not only in the south but ever. If you follow Billboard, they listed T.I. as the 32nd greatest rapper of all-time. 20 years ago today, T.I. dropped his second album called Trap Muzik. Trap Muzik was the follow-up to his debut album I’m Serious. I’m Serious had some good tracks, but Trap Muzik made T.I. into a superstar and household name. After I’m Serious didn’t perform to its expectations T.I. was dropped from his label. After that, T.I. formed Grand Hustle Records and started putting out mixtapes. With the strength of those mixtapes, T.I. signed a joint venture with Atlantic Records. Trap Muzik was the first album from that deal, and it didn’t disappoint.

Trap Muzik went platinum, and a star was born out of the city of Atlanta. 24s was the first single from the album and it didn’t chart that well. Despite that, it was a huge success in the south as it made its way to several mixtapes during this time. Be Easy was the second single and once again, the single wasn’t huge, but it was a nice track. Be Easy was a good track and very smooth. The third single was a classic and it was produced by David Banner. Rubber Band Man was the name, and it became his biggest single. Rubber Band Man was huge in Atlanta and has been named one of the best tracks ever from the city. The video was equally as big because of the cameos from Diddy, Jagged Edge, Usher, Bow Wow, and many others.

T.I. also had Mike Vick to appear and during this time, Vick was the king of Atlanta. The fourth and final single from the album was Let’s Get Away. Let’s Get Away was for the ladies and it’s another great track off Trap Muzik. All in all, Trap Muzik is a classic album and one of my top 5 albums from T.I. This is my favorite album from T.I., but I’ve wrestled with this one and Urban Legend over the years. Trap Muzik saw 8Ball & MJG, Bun B, and Jazze Pha. Below are my top 5 tracks from the album, track listing and stream link for Trap Muzik.
