Week 7 is in the books and now it’s time for Week 8 to kick off. Last week my record was 5-2, which brought my overall mark to 42-24. The winning percentage rose a bit from 62.7 to 63.6%. Seattle beating the Los Angeles Chargers was one of my losses. The other came on Monday Night when the Bears destroyed the New England Patriots. The Saints continue their free-fall after losing to the Cardinals last Thursday night. Dallas rebounded from their loss to Philadelphia by beating Detroit 24-6. In a battle for first place in the AFC South, the Titans beat the Colts. Speaking of the Colts, they have named Sam Ehlinger the QB for the remainder of the season. In a shocker, the Carolina Panthers defeated the Tampa Bay Buccaneers 21-3. This came after the Panthers traded Christian McCaffrey to the 49ers.
The New York Giants and Jets continued their winning ways. Unfortunately for the Jets, they lost star running back Breece Hall for the season. After the news broke, the Jets immediately traded for James Robinson. Kansas City rebounded from their loss to Buffalo by beating down the 49ers on the road. Tua returned for Miami, and they ended their 3-game losing streak by beating Pittsburgh. This week I’ll be predicting another 8 games. Hopefully the winning continues to keep my winning percentage rising. Let’s get it!
As usual, we kick things off with the Thursday night game on Amazon Prime Video. The Baltimore Ravens will head down south to Tampa to face the Bucs. Baltimore is currently tied atop of the NFC North with Cincinnati. The Ravens are amongst the top scoring teams in the league. The defense also ranks high in the league as far as giving up points. With the Bengals finding their footing, the Ravens need this win. On the other hand, the Bucs have dropped two in a row and four of their last five games. They haven’t scored over 21 points in their last three games and only put up 3 points against Carolina. They have a losing record heading into this game and need to turn things around. I’m thinking Baltimore will still prevail in this one. Ravens Win 27-24
With the NFC South in chaos, this is a very important game between division rivals. The Carolina Panthers head to the Atlanta to meet the Falcons. Carolina looked great on both sides of the ball last week against Tampa. Despite trading away Christian McCaffrey, the offense was efficient, and the running game was amazing. Can this Panthers team keep up after losing their best player on offense? Atlanta have overachieved all season, but last week they were crushed by Cincinnati. They only attempted minimal passes as they failed to get Drake London and Kyle Pitts involved. They will need to involve their two top stars if they have a chance at winning this game. This is a key NFC South game because one of them could be in first place after this one. I’m thinking Atlanta has the better team and should win. Falcons Win 30-20
We have a key NFC matchup between two teams that’s headed in opposite directions. The Chicago Bears travel down south to Dallas to battle the Cowboys. Chicago is coming off an impressive win in Gillette Stadium against the Patriots. Despite the win, it seems like the Bears are thinking about the future. They traded away Robert Quinn to the Eagles. Even though he only had one sack, his presence will be greatly missed on that defense. Dallas is hoping to make a run with the return of Dak Prescott. Last week he returned, and the Cowboys defense smothered the Lions. Dallas should do the same against Justin Fields and the Bears offense. I’m picking Dallas to win their second consecutive game. Cowboys Win 31-17
We have a great battle in the NFC between two of the better offenses in the league. The Arizona Cardinals heads north to Minnesota to battle the Vikings. With the return of DeAndre Hopkins and acquiring Robbie Anderson, the Cardinals have two of the better deep threats in the game. The defense is the issue and will be when they face the Vikings offense. The NFC West is still up for grabs and the Cardinals can make some noise with a win over Minnesota. Minnesota is riding a 4-game winning streak. The only blemish on their record is the Monday Night loss to the Eagles. Despite the 5-1 record, Minnesota needs to get more out of their run game. This could be a game where they get on track as they should defeat Arizona. Vikings Win 34-27
We head to the NFC West for this key matchup as the Los Angeles Rams host the San Francisco 49ers. The 49ers find themselves on a 2-game losing streak as they face their rivals. San Francisco should have more plays in their playbook for Christian McCaffrey. Unfortunately, the defense gave up a lot of points to the Chiefs in their defeat. The Niners are dealing with injuries, which is something that’s plagued them for the last couple of seasons. The Rams went into their bye week with a win after dropping two in a row. One of those losses was to the 49ers and they only scored a total of 9 points. Los Angeles is hoping that the week off can rejuvenate them and get them healthier. Los Angeles should get some revenge on the 49ers. Rams Win 23-20
We stay in the NFC for this battle of two of the more surprising teams. The 6-1 New York Giants head to the Pacific Northwest to meet the 4-3 Seattle Seahawks. New York enters this contest on a 4-game winning streak. Saquon Barkley is looking like the running back many expected him to be. The defense is giving up less than 19 points a game and Daniel Jones has been efficient. Who had Seattle sitting atop of the NFC West after 7 weeks? Who also had Geno Smith being one of the best QBs during that time? Most likely, no one had those two things, but here we are, and Seattle is exceeding expectations. They are top-5 in scoring offense, but the issue is that the defense can’t stop too much. They will be without D.K. Metcalf and that will hurt them. Giants Win 24-21
This is the Sunday Night game as the struggling Green Bay Packers head to Buffalo to take on the Bills. The Packers are in the midst of a 3-game losing streak. Aaron Rodgers have struggled to connect with his young receiving core. Green Bay is averaging a little over 18 points a game. The defense is usually great, but they are on the field entirely too much and facing Buffalo won’t help any. Buffalo is coming off their bye week and everything is good for the Bills Mafia. They’re arguably the best team in the AFC and Josh Allen is the frontrunner for the MVP award. The offense ranks 2nd in scoring and the defense gives up the fewest points in the league. All of that is a recipe for disaster for Rodgers and the Packers. Buffalo should win in convincing fashion. Bills Win 31-20
For our Monday Night game, we have a pair of AFC North rivals doing battle. The Cincinnati Bengals head to Cleveland to take on the Browns. After starting the season 0-2, the Bengals have won four of their last five games. Joe Burrow is coming off a masterful performance where he almost threw for 500 yards against the Falcons. The passing game is ranked 5th in the league, but the rushing is one of the worse. Cleveland is in the midst of a 4-game losing streak and rumors are running rampant that Kareem Hunt will be traded. The Browns rank 3rd in the league in rushing and have a top-10 scoring offense. On the other hand, the defense is giving up almost 27 points a game. Joe Burrow is hot, and the defense can’t stop anyone makes this a recipe for disaster for the Browns. Bengals Win 31-21
