Who Wins NWho Wins NFC South Division in 2022? FC South Division in 2022?

We have the NFC East and North out of the way, let’s focus on the NFC South. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers have ran the division ever since Tom Brady came to town. Are the Bucs poised to make another run to the Super Bowl? New Orleans made significant upgrades to their roster with hopes of returning to glory. Carolina is still trying to find that winning formula that has eluded them for the past few seasons. Atlanta is looking to establish themselves and kind of rebuild at the same time. Who will leave the NFC South as champions? Will it be Tampa Bay or New Orleans? Could the Falcons or Panthers surprise people this season? Let’s see who’s the favorite to win the division in 2022.

Atlanta Falcons

The Atlanta Falcons enter this season with a brand new quarterback. Matt Ryan was traded to Indianapolis and now the search for a new signal caller begin. The Falcons were part of the Deshaun Watson sweepstakes, but didn’t acquire the star QB. Marcus Mariota will likely be the new QB, but they also drafted Desmond Ridder from Cincinnati. The secondary should be better seeing they signed Casey Heyward to play on the opposite side of A.J. Terrell. On offense, they traded for Braylen Edwards to go alongside Kyle Pitts and newly drafted Drake London. The future is looking bright for the Falcons, but that could be a couple years away.

Carolina Panthers

The Carolina Panthers enter this season in what could be the final one for Coach Matt Rhule. Carolina will have a quarterback competition entering camp. They traded for Baker Mayfield and he will compete against Sam Darnold for the starting position. Carolina did right by extending DJ Moore as he’s been the bright spot for this organization for years. The starting quarterback has been getting pummeled for the last few years. They drafted Ikem Ekwonu to help protect either Darnold or Mayfield. Gthey brought in Austin Corbett to also help on the offensive line. The defense will be tested as they lost Haasan Riddick to the Eagles. Carolina will be fighting Atlanta for 3rd place this season.

New Orleans Saints

New Orleans is hoping to have a bounce back season with the return of Jameis Winston. Winston missed a good portion of last year after tearing his ACL. The Saints improved on both sides of the ball with the hopes of winning the division and making a playoff appearance. The defense improved a lot with the addition of Tyrann Mathieu. The Honey Badger will make the secondary of the Saints a lot better. On the offensive side, they get Michael Thomas back after missing last season due to injury. They drafted Chris Olave and signed Jarvis Landry in free agency. This team is poised to make some noise in the NFC this season.

Tampa Bay Buccaneers

Tampa Bay had an interesting offseason to say the least. Tom Brady retired only to un-retired a few days later. Despite injuring his ACL last season, the Bucs resigned Chris Godwin. To help an even more stout receiving core, the Bucs convinced Julio Jones to sign with the team also. Unfortunately, they will be without their best offensive lineman in Ryan Jensen. Jensen tore his ACL and will miss the entire upcoming season. Shaq Mason will help the defense get after the QB. The secondary won’t be as good as the previous year, but the front seven could shield that. I’m still picking the Bucs to barely edge the Saints for the NFC South crown.
